Loving Son Raises Money For Charity with Hospital Ward Tattoo

Finlay White honored the staff at Heartlands Hospital Ward 19 in Birmingham UK who saved his Mom’s life by getting their logo tattooed

When Debbie White 48, from Chemsley Wood in Birmingham UK was struck down with leukaemia, pneumonia and kidney failure she was put in a six week induced coma in Heartlands Hospital to undergo intensive chemotherapy treatment. Her son, Finlay White, 28 was by her side day and night. He slept there at the hospital and doted on her every need.

The staff at the hospital took incredible care of Debbie and her son round the clock and when Debbie pulled through weeks later, Finlay wanted to show his appreciation for the excellent care and treatment the staff at Ward 19 had given his Mom by getting a tattoo in their honor.

Not only was the tattoo to show recognition of the stellar job the staff had done but also to raise money for the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust charity which works directly with hospitals in the Birmingham area. Launching an online fund raising campaign Finlay managed to raise £720.00 GBP for the trust which help patients treat special conditions like heart and kidney disease, cancer, HIV and AIDS, as well as respiratory conditions like Cystic Fibrosis.

The logo is now part of the sleeve tattoo he has on his arm which is a whole tribute to his Mom. One of his tattoos includes a poem he wrote especially for her. In a news interview with The Birmingham Mail Finlay said “They worked miracles for me and my Mum and it is a little way of repaying them. It’s the least I can do to try and raise as much money as possible for such an amazing place as Ward 19.”
