Haris Nukem’s ”Tiger Style” Photography Strikes Again

Photographer Haris Nukem is back with his signature ”Tiger Style” photography featuring rapper Nik Hampshire and tattoo artist Courtney Lloyd.
Back in August, we introduced you to a London-based photographer named Haris Nukem. We instantly fell in love with his brand of photography that perfectly captured the urban scene in London and the way he brings out the best in his subjects, highlighting their distinct styles, body mods, and raw vibe.
Noda Luka recently met Haris at this year’s London Tattoo Convention and had the chance to sit down for a chat. He told us about the process and a bit of what goes on behind the camera.

For "Free Things", Haris invited Courtney Lloyd, a local tattoo artist and Nik Hampshire, a model/rapper from the US who came to London for a 3-week visit.
Incidentally, it was Nik’s last day in town with a few hours to spare. While Courtney, in between tattooing and setting up her own shop, luckily managed to escape for a few hours to align her own busy schedule with Haris’s.
It turned out to be a two-hour shoot packed with the same spontaneity and raw energy we so love about his works even before.
As for his choice of subjects—composed of young, fearless, and alternative individuals, Haris says, "I've got a mad appreciation for anybody that hustles and makes something their own."
"Straight off the bat both of these guys are self starters who do their own things," he adds, referring to Nik's music career and Courtney’s tattooing, among the other men and women he had the opportunity to work with.
"My style of photography is a direct result of the mood," says Haris. "The objective in every shoot for me is through chilling, listening to music and talking about shared creative views, to create a judgement-free, honest environment."
"There's this point in these shoot where everybody gets on a certain frequency and the standard of the pictures just elevate. That's when I start getting the ones people see."
