Be enthralled with this photographer’s detailed body paintings for a canvas brought to life under the glow of black light.
Believe it or not, these aren’t the product of some sensual double exposure techniques. It’s all the doing of a photographer and painter from who happens to know his way around black light and UV paint.
If you’re sick of stiff, bland-looking, professionally taken portraits and you’re in the mood for something new, then you better start lining up for Utah-based photographer, John Poppleton. This guy is a real triple threat. Not only is he handy with the camera but he’s also pretty fantastic with paint and light works.
“I’ve always been fascinated by black lights, the beauty of the human body, the world around me and the ability to create and express myself through art,” Poppleton writes on Bored Panda.
Poppleton works in a considerably darkened studio, while the UV body paintings are done under the illumination of black light. “I’m literally painting with light,” he says. “From the artist’s perspective it becomes a very surreal even spiritual experience.”
It’s amazing how his works, particulary this Aurora Borealis piece on mother and daughter.
Literally electrifying.
