Taraji P. Henson Revenal the Meaning Behind Her Mysterious Tattoo

Empire star Taraji P. Henson has been blowing up lately. Since breaking out in a leading role in Baby Boy, Henson has earned herself an Academy Award nomination for her work in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and has been nominated for (and won) numerous awards for her role as Cookie Lyon.

Something that people haven't quite pinned down yet is the meaning behind the tattoo on her left bicep. Henson recently revealed its meaning in an interview.

The tattoo, which reads "The Truth," is very close to Henson and has special meaning to her.

"You can't be afraid of your past, or ashamed about it, because that's what makes you who you are today. Life isn't easy. As humans we're all beautifully flawed. No human is perfect," she said in her sit down with Good Day New York.

Henson isn't afraid to flaunt her ink.

"The joy of living in your own truth" is a credo she carries with her, and now has tattooed on her body. Now she'll always have a reminder to live in her truth, and hopefully it will carry the actress far.
