Conor McGregor has made history, people. Not only is he one of the baddest motherfuckers in the Octagon, but on Saturday night at UFC 205 Conor McGregor became the first person to hold two championships simultaneously in the UFC. McGregor is now the UFC Featherweight Champion and the UFC Lightweight Champion.
He duked it out with Eddie Alvarez for the championship, and he absolutely out-classed him. His offense was precise and measured, and no movement was wasted. The fight ended in a 2nd round knockout, and McGregor was crowned the new Lightweight Champ.
Even more shocking than the victory and history-making, McGregor revealed he is going to become a father. What a night this guy had.
He confidently strolled around the ring, at some points even mocking Alvarez. During the fight, McGregor put his hands behind his back, inviting Alvarez to hit him, and Alvarez did nothing. A few minutes later, McGregor knocked the former Lightweight Champ out cold, and the ref called the match over.
Here is McGregor's full interview after the fight.
I guess that's why you shouldn't talk shit about the man's tattoos. Alvarez felt pretty confident in his game before the fight, but he was exposed. Maybe it was the pre-fight press conferences where McGregor toyed with his head, or maybe it's just that Mystic Mac is the better fighter.
One thing is certain, McGregor is a living legend of the sport now and is seeking another huge payday after taking the world by storm.
On Dennis Siver, McGregor is quoted as saying, "He's a midget, German, steroid-head. That's my thoughts on him."
Mac doesn't know what's next for him, but hopefully he continues his creative trash-talking ways and has even more success in the sport. He's truly one of the most entertaining stars of the UFC, and his star has never burned brighter than it did Saturday night.
