Recently in an interview with The New Yorker, the legendary musician expressed his acceptance of this inevitability. "I am ready to die," Cohen said. "I hope it's not too uncomfortable. That's about it for me." Though this sorrowful occurrence has been somewhat expected given his declining health, many people — especially his family, friends, and fans — are still reeling from the loss of this musical icon.

There has been an outpouring of emotions about his passing on social media. Many people have been posting their favorite lyrics of his or just expressing their admiration of his work. For instance, on his Facebook page, it says, "We have lost one of music's most revered and prolific visionaries." Among the many grief-stricken individuals, Canada's Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, even voiced his condolences. "No other artist's music felt or sounded like Leonard Cohen's," said Trudeau. "Yet his work resonated across generations. Canada and the world will miss him."

Cohen created beautiful musical compositions and literature up until the day he died, his last album being released late last month, and these creative endeavors insure that his vibrant spirit will always remain with us.
